Small Router Plane
This router plane is a small tool that is not intended to replace the electric router- it is used for cleaning the bottoms of mortises and dadoes and reaching a similar and consistent depth.
Router planes are made in a variety of sizes, and in a wide quality range. This plane is a remake of an old Stanley plane, excellent for small work.
Using a small router plane is usually pleasant work, especially if your iron is sharp.
Using a piece of sandpaper to set the plane for a deeper cut- not a heavier cut. The heavier work is generally done with a chisel- this plane is for final, light trimming.
More on router planes later.
